Qualifying for the 1995 Bathurst 1000 saw the #05 Holden VR Commodore driven by Peter Brock and Tomas Mezera in 4th position entering into the Top Ten Shootout where Brock crashed his Holden Racing Team VR Commodore at The Cutting during his lap, thus he did not record a time and would start 10th.

The race had only 32 cars on the starting grid. It was the smallest field so far in the race’s history. This was attributed to the fact that the race was run only for the outright class 5.0 Litre Touring Cars.

Brock started the race and quickly moved from 10th position to 7th by the end of the first lap. He was rapidly moving through the field and was 5th by lap 10 and as high as 3rd position on lap 25.

On lap 30 Brock entered the pits for the teams first stop of the race, to hand the car over to his co-driver Tomas Mezera. Mezera experienced car troubles as soon as he went out and in just 2 laps, on lap 32 with the car in 6th position, he was forced to retire back to the pits with an oil pressure problem and the car was ultimately forced out of the race.

The Larry Perkins/Russell Ingall Holden VR Commodore won the race with the Alan Jones/Allan Grice Ford EF Falcon in 2nd and the Wayne Gardner/Neil Crompton Holden VR Commodore in 3rd.
