Holden L34 Torana 1975 Bathurst 2nd Place

For the 1975 Bathurst Bob Morris was original partnered with Graeme Lawrence in the Ron Hodgson backed L34 Torana, but was later substitute for Frank Gardner. In all 13 Torana L34s would start the race in Class D, up against only 3 Falcons.
The Ron Hodgson L34 was able to claim fourth fastest in qualifying, only behind Bond, Moffat and Brock. Gardner took the first stint for the race, and didn’t take any risks in the first few laps, after the first driver change, Morris found himself in sixth position.
Several drivers ahead were having issues that allowed them to move into second position, before overtaking the then leader, Sampson. They held the lead for 17 laps before a slow pitstop put them back into second position.
With only eight laps left in the race, Morris was forced to pit and hand over the duties to Gardner, to avoid exceeding his race time limit. Their pace was limited soon after, with brake issues, and were force to coast to the finish. A consistent race from Morris and Gardner were rewarded with second outright at the 1975 Bathurst.
