The only Calypso Green Ford Falcon XA GT-HO Phase IV produced by Ford escaped the public eye for decades. This is the rarest Australian muscle car ever produced. The sole production of the Phase IV, as a retail order and not as dealer stock, was by ‘Jack Brabham Ford’ on 15/5/72. When the car arrived at Brabham’s it was unloaded in the pre-delivery Department. Sir Jack decided it was not for him, being a manual, and so the car was prepared for sale, interestingly, it had a front spoiler fitted but no rear spoiler. All the GT-HOs were treated to a dyno tune before being released for sale. There were only four dealerships in Australia that had a chassis dyno, hence the proudly displayed Brabhams Decal on the rear windshield. The car was then legally registered at the Chullora Dept, Motor Transport. It then sat at the dealership for a while until it was finally sold on 26/3/73 to a regular customer, who promptly painted it Zircon Green! It was sold to the second owner in 1978, third owner in 1981 and the forth, after seeing advertised in the newspaper bought it in 1985. This has given the car a very unassuming path in life, which was to disguise it in history and hide its very unique and amazing beginning ...until now. We are pleased to further expose this little known piece of Australian motoring history and to celebrate its 40 year history by immortalising it in diecast and plastic in the form of this 1/18th scale model.
