The 1975 Tasman Championship was the twelfth and final running of the series. Consisting of 8 races beginning on the 5th of January at Levin New Zealand and ending on the 23rd of February at Sandown Australia.
Round 5 held at Oran Park on the 2nd of February was the first Australian Round, both Warwick Brown and Graeme Lawrence entered the race equal on championship points. Brown had a great start to the season with a 2nd and 1st place from the first two rounds, but had suffered from engine reliability problems, retiring the next two rounds.
Brown put his recent string of bad luck behind him to dominate all four practice sessions, setting the fastest lap of 65.0s (the track had been extended from the previous years race). Chris Amon in the Talon MR1 claimed second position on the grid, with Lawrence in third.
Off the starting line Brown took control of the race, with Amon slipping back several positions. Brown was in a class of his own, improving his lead by almost 1 second per lap. Leading from start to finish, Brown went on to claim the win with only Lawrence finishing on the lead lap.

The 1975 Tasman Championship was a thriller, the Championship went to last round at Sandown with Brown, Lawrence and Walker all on 30 points. Walker secured pole position, Brown second just 0.2s behind, and Lawrence further back in 4th. Walker had a massive accident on the opening lap ending his championship hopes. Lawrence race ended on lap 43 with a fuel pressure problems, this left Brown, who was dominating the race. On the second to last lap he was forced into the pits with low fuel, dropping several positions, finishing the race in sixth position, claiming a single championship point and with it the Championship title.
