The 1993 Tooheys Bathurst 1000 touring car race was looking like a race of attrition with spins and spills in the wet and slippery conditions but it turned out to be a fierce battle between the Commodores of Perkins/Hansford and Skaife/Richards. It would reduce everyone else in the field to be no more than a support player to the battle that ensued. The pattern for this race was set in qualifying, where the two posted very close times, Perkins taking pole position. Never had two teams at the head of the race been so closely matched. It was exciting, Hansford leading in car 11 up against the experienced Richards in the damp conditions. Hansford entered the pits on lap 130 where Perkins re-entered the race to carry on the battle. Richards hurried from the pits on lap 147, but the task seemed hopeless. Only a mistake from Perkins would offer Richards a chance, but it never came. The superior tactics of the Castrol Commodore in judging pit stops and driver changes gave them the advantage. Through pre-race planning, race-day strategy and driving prowess Perkins’ claimed a remarkable victory along with co-driver Hansford to win the 1993 Bathurst 1000.

Features

Amazing interior with the dash, gauges, switch box and Momo wheel.

In the cabin interior below the centre dash board sits the large console switch box with exposed wiring harness nicely replicated.

Amazing detail, like the drivers drink bottle with clear drink tube. Note the individual buckles hand threaded on racing harness webbing.

Note the big callipers and cross drilled brake discs, hidden some-what by the 5-spoke rims. Traction is from the Dunlop racing slicks.

Lots of superb chassis detail, rear springs suspension, stabiliser bar, panhard rod, custom fuel tank, oil cooler and stunning exhaust to name a few.

Replicated carbon fibre on air box is very convincing as does the very detail V8 engine below. The bonnet uses metal hinges and has metal telescopic struts.

The boot is a tangle with fuel pumps, oil pumps, catch tanks hidden behind two huge fuel filler pipes.

Item includes certificate and production number plate, mounted to the chassis.
